TenderFinder connector

Use TenderFinder in Claude or ChatGPT

Ask your AI assistant about Australian government tenders, contracts ending soon, agencies and suppliers, and get answers drawn from TenderFinder data with a link to each source. The connector is free, read only and needs no account.

Connector URL

https://tenderfinder.com.au/mcp

This is a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP can use it.

Set it up in a minute

Menus change from time to time and steps may differ by plan. If something looks different, look for the place to add a custom connector or MCP server and paste the URL above.

Claude

  1. 1Open Claude and go to Settings.
  2. 2Choose Connectors.
  3. 3Select Add custom connector.
  4. 4Name it TenderFinder, paste the connector URL and add it.
  5. 5In a new chat, turn the TenderFinder connector on and ask a question.

On Team and Enterprise plans an owner may need to add the connector for your organisation first.

ChatGPT

  1. 1Check that your ChatGPT plan lets you add custom connectors or remote MCP servers. Availability depends on the plan, and on Business or Enterprise plans an admin may need to enable it.
  2. 2Open ChatGPT settings and find the area for connectors or apps. You may need to turn on developer mode first.
  3. 3Create a new connector, give it the name TenderFinder and paste the connector URL. No sign in is needed.
  4. 4Start a chat, enable TenderFinder for that chat and ask a question.

Steps may differ by plan. OpenAI's help centre has the current instructions for custom connectors.

Claude Code and Cursor

Add this to your MCP configuration file: .mcp.json in your project for Claude Code, or .cursor/mcp.json for Cursor. Cursor only needs the url line.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tenderfinder": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://tenderfinder.com.au/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Or, in Claude Code, run:

claude mcp add --transport http tenderfinder https://tenderfinder.com.au/mcp

What you can ask

The connector gives your assistant six tools. You do not need to name them; just ask in plain English and the assistant picks the right one.

Search open tenders

Finds open tenders from federal, state and territory portals by keyword, jurisdiction, category, value or closing date.

"Find open cleaning tenders in Queensland closing in the next 14 days."

Tender detail

Reads the full detail of one tender: agency, description, closing date, value where published and the official source link.

"Summarise tender 123456 and tell me what I would need to submit."

Contracts ending soon

Lists Commonwealth contracts from AusTender that end within the months you choose, largest first, so you can plan for the re-tender.

"Which Defence IT contracts worth over $1M expire in the next 6 months?"

Agency buying profile

Shows what a Commonwealth agency buys, its top suppliers, recent awards, contracts ending soon and its open tenders.

"What does the ATO buy, and who are its biggest IT suppliers?"

Supplier profile

Shows a supplier's Commonwealth contract history by company name or ABN: total value, trend, agencies, categories and recent wins.

"Show me Thales Cyber Services' Commonwealth contracts and which ones end soon."

Planned procurements

Searches the annual procurement plans Commonwealth agencies publish, showing what they expect to buy and in which quarter.

"What cyber security work do Commonwealth agencies plan to go to market for this financial year?"

About the data

  • Open tenders come from federal, state and territory government tender portals. Contract awards, expiries, agency and supplier profiles and procurement plans cover the Commonwealth only.
  • The data is updated daily. Values are in Australian dollars.
  • Every answer item carries a tenderfinder.com.au link so you can check the source. Always confirm closing dates and requirements on the official portal before you bid.
  • The connector is read only. It receives only the search terms your assistant sends it, not your chat history or any TenderFinder account details. Each request returns up to 25 results, and heavy use is rate limited.
